* Acupuncture * Qi Gong * Herbal therapy * Dietary practices * Nutrition *

The Chinese Medicine Companion keeps esoteric information to "need to know" basics giving you a practical guide to achieving total health in body, mind, and spirit.

Misha Ruth Cohen's The Chinese Medicine Companion is an approachable introduction to the world of Integrated Chinese Medicine. For the health professional coming from a background of Western medicine or unfamiliar with so-called complementary and alternative medicines (CAM), the book works well to lay a foundation for understanding the traditional medicine practice. Most familiar with an allopathic system myself, I was surprised and intrigued to see what overlap there was, and wasn't, and what differences were most notable. Having had, in a medical setting, to research CAM before and having come up with a derth of information, I know first hand the need for medical providers to be familiar with CAM and how each works and can work in tandem with Western medicine, allopathic or osteopathic. From this guide, my exposure to the tenets and practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine has increased and I feel a more holistic awareness of how it might interact with other systems of medicine. 5 stars from me.
