Somehow it got better. [Star Pig by Delilah S. Dawson]
The last work I read from Delilah S. Dawson was The Princess Beard. That was a fun time, my type of humor. Star Pig is a graphic novel however, so I wasn't sure how the writing style would translate. Turns out it was suited greatly for the illustrated strip format.
The weird story of a young marooned space explorer from Earth meeting and befriending a tardigrade in a universe where Earth culture is rampantly popular was a bit awkward at first (just for the Earth-centric focus), but towards the end I found myself endeared towards the characters. The eBook at 89 pages, Star Pig was a quick read. I think anyone would enjoy it. 5 stars. Stellar. I look forward to future sequels.
Star Pig is set for publication March 2020.
Two Castaways. One Goal. Zero in common. Get lost in this inventive sci-fi graphic novel about an extraordinary friendship and an incredible journey home. Like many late-21st-century teens, geeky 16-year-old Vess gets packed off to spend her summer at Space Camp--which is literally in space. Tragically, a shuttle accident sends her and the rest of the passengers careening toward a cold, frosty death among the stars. But when a gigantic, space-faring water bear miraculously rescues Vess and her beloved retro Discman, it's the beginning of an extraordinary friendship, all set to the nostalgic tunes of Vess's 1990s-heavy playlist.
